My View:

An Indian mythology told differently. Shattered dreams is second part of the Ramayana series. This book provides vast knowledge to today’s youths. Footnotes are a good example on how to face any situation in daily life. The author’s way of conveying the entire tale is so excellent that it keeps readers hooked up from the very beginning. I have watched the Ramayana in Doordarshan and also heard about it from different sources, but what makes this book different is because of his in-depth detailing of any particular situation, and point to point self-help footnotes are good bonus given by the author.

By reading this book I got to know how Dasharatha got his name, Ravana’s name was Dasagriva but lord Shiva called him Ravana because of his courage and sincerity on knowledge of Vedas. Also got to know according to Indian mythology why peacocks feathers have different shades, why crows are given importance in our Shastra’s, why Bharata refused to become king etc.

Each and every character are like Dasaratha, Kausalya, Sumitra, Kaikeyi, Lakshmana, Bharatha, Shatrugna, Urmila, Manthara, Vasistha etc are so vividly defined by author that their message is easily understood by the readers. What I liked the most is Six Anarthas to Conquer, Pause to think page no. 112, five management mantras page no.334. Also the romance of Rama and Sita is very well portrayed.

I highly recommend this book to mythology and self-help readers. A must read for every Indian soul.

Book Blurb:

Shattered Dreams is the sequel to the national bestseller, Rise of the Sun Prince, in the new spiritual and motivational series Ramayana – The Game of Life. Twelve joyful years have passed in Ayodhya since the wedding of Rama and Sita at the end of the Book 1.

Now, in shattered Dreams, Shubha Vilas narrates the riveting drama of Rama’s exile. Through tales of Rama’s unwavering and enigmatic persona, the book teaches us how to handle reversals positively; through Bharata’s actions, it teaches us to handle temptation; and through Sita’s courage, to explore beyond our comfort zone. This complicated family drama provides deep insights on how human relationships work and how they fail.

With Valmiki’s Ramayana as its guiding light, Shattered Dreams deftly entwines poetic beauty from the Kamba Ramayana and Ramacharitramanas, as well as folk philosophy from the Loka Pramana tales, to demonstrate how the ancient epic holds immediate relevance to modern life. Experience the ancient saga of the Ramayana like never before.
