My view:

Just imagining a Ganaga as human being creates a goose bumps to me, river Ganaga being praised by crore’s of people in India from thousands of years, author has done a tremendous work by giving a life to river ganga.

Creating a story on the basis of Indian mythology needs a huge courage, especially when you write about a river Ganga were Indian’s take a bath to purify themselves from sin and help to attain moksha.

The gripping flow of the book and writing style of author is good, difficult jargons being used which is somewhat difficult for me (to be frank I have to refer dictionary many times). Many popular events of river ganga being taken by author and perfectly articulated according to the situation. I loved to read Ganga’s conversation with Parvati, Shiva and Vishnu, they are breathtaking many times. Especially Ganga’s connection with her sister Parvati is very well depicted by the author. This book is perfect in this time where importance is given to women empowerment.

I highly recommend this book to today’s youth and old age, as Anuja Chandramouli has retold Indian mythology in modern way.

P.S. This is first time reading Anuja Chandramouli, after reading this would like to read other titles from the same author.

**I received this beautiful book from Author Anuja Chandramouli in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Blurb:

In the silvery rush of her waters, she had always made room for the sinners and saints alike.
Believed to be the liquid manifestation of Shakti and the nurturer of the three worlds with her life-sustaining waters. Goddess Ganga is the epitome of beauty and purity, famous for her indomitable spirit and boundless charm. Renowned as a devoted daughter, a caring mother, a passionate lover and a merciful savior, she is here to absorb and absolve us of our sins. A constant goddess, she is part of the Indian ethos, revered and loved across the ages.

The exquisite epic that is Ganga’s story – from her miraculous origins, her sojourn in the heavens, her poignant relationships with the divine trinity, the birth of her sons Kartikeya and Bhishma, and her descent into a wicked world that is not worthy of her-is dazzlingly told by Anuja Chandramouli.

This book is a vibrant retelling of the story of Ganga, who has the power to save us all and bestow the gift of moksha with her all-encompassing compassion.
